CTPAT Certification: Easing the Retail Supply Chain Challenge

AnnJoy’s membership in the CTPAT program helps us keep our promise to deliver quality packaging on time and on budget while safeguarding our nation’s border infrastructure.

At AnnJoy, we are proud to support our retail customers by being a certified member of the Customs Trade Partnership Against Terrorism (CTPAT).  For more than five years, we have worked hand-in-hand with the U.S. Customs and Border Protection Service to protect our nation’s supply chain and border infrastructure as part of this program.  The work we do helps us move our customers’ shipments across the U.S. border with greater speed and predictability.

Maintaining our certification requires a robust investment of staff time and due diligence.  “We believe the effort is worth it,” explains Adam Finkel, president of AnnJoy. “We take seriously our commitment to deliver quality packaging on time and on budget.  Our membership in CTPAT is an integral part of consistently making that happen.”

Specific benefits of CTPAT membership include:

  • Reduced number of Customs and Border Protection (CBP) examinations, which can be time consuming and result in the accrual of significant storage costs;

  • Shorter wait times at the border and front-of-the-line inspections (ahead of non-CTPAT shipments);

  • Access to the Free and Secure Trade (FAST) Lanes at land borders;

  • Expedited clearance of sea vessels through the Advanced Qualified Unlading Approval Pilot Lane ("AQUA Lane");

  • Priority entrance of goods following a natural disaster or terrorist attack; and

  • Expedited screening with worldwide security partners from some of the foreign customs administrations that have signed Mutual Recognition Agreements (MRAs) with the US.

“This is an extraordinarily challenging time for supply chain management,” said Finkel. “Maintaining our CTPAT certification is just one way we work to ease that challenge for our retail customers every day, and to provide the superior, concierge-level logistics support they have come to expect from AnnJoy.”
